Title: "1!2!3!4!" live at Studio A.I.R.
w/ special guest Tropical Storm Hanna
Category: Performance
Year: 2008

Synopsis: This collaborative piece, with Julie Fotheringham, was performed at Studio A.I.R. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Julie was responsible for the movement/choreography and I did the music & set up the live video feed. More info on Julie Fotheringham here.

Production Notes: The starting point for this piece was the simple gesture of putting a small surveillance video camera on a microphone stand (instead of a microphone). The title is obviously derived from how countless pieces of rock/punk/metal/etc songs begin. For the guitar & drums music, I'm using a MIDI guitar which triggers percussive sounds on a drum machine. At the beginning of the piece, my guitar MIDI box & the drum machine were somehow not set correctly, so as I was playing for the first minute or so, I was working on fixing the problem. I suppose it would have more 'rock star' of me to get mad at my gear for not working, smash it and then storm off the stage...
